Become a vol­un­teer park ranger for Nation­al Parks and Wildlife Ser­vice SA

Ever want­ed to help behind the scenes at some of South Australia’s most icon­ic Nation­al Parks? Appli­ca­tions are now open in SA’s regions for the Nation­al Parks and Wildlife Ser­vice South Aus­tralia (NPWS­SA) Vol­un­teer Ranger Pro­gram, giv­ing par­tic­i­pants the chance to help out in some of South Australia’s most unique and beau­ti­ful parks.


New teach­ing resource to help stu­dents deep dive into marine parks

In a first for South Aus­tralia, Nation­al Parks and Wildlife Ser­vice SA (NPWS­SA) and Parks Aus­tralia have teamed up to devel­op a new edu­ca­tion resource that brings marine parks into the state’s classrooms.


Spot an emu chick in Para Wirra Con­ser­va­tion Park this summer

If you ven­ture to Para Wirra Con­ser­va­tion Park this sum­mer make sure to keep an eye out for emu chicks, with sev­er­al fam­i­lies of chicks spot­ted in the park. 


STATE­MENT: Dry Creek salt fields

In Sep­tem­ber 2020, the Depart­ment for Envi­ron­ment and Water (DEW) became aware of sig­nif­i­cant dieback of the man­groves adja­cent to the St Kil­da board­walk with­in the Ade­laide Inter­na­tion­al Bird Sanc­tu­ary Nation­al Park – Winaity­i­naityi Pangkara (AIBS). The cur­rent impact­ed area includes approx­i­mate­ly 10 hectares of man­grove and 35 hectares of salt­marsh adja­cent to the Dry Creek salt field.


Buoys deployed in Kel­li­die Bay Sanc­tu­ary Zone

Three buoys mark­ing part of the out­er bound­ary of the Kel­li­die Bay Marine Park Sanc­tu­ary zone have recent­ly been deployed in Kel­li­die Bay by Nation­al Parks and Wildlife Ser­vice SA (NPWS­SA).
