A ground­break­ing breed­ing pro­gram to safe­guard the long-term con­ser­va­tion of koalas in Aus­tralia is being hailed as a suc­cess after the birth of four joeys at Cle­land Wildlife Park.

Vis­i­tors are flock­ing to South Aus­trali­a’s nation­al parks sites with the Ade­laide Gaol and Nara­coorte Caves smash­ing atten­dance records.

Pro­tect­ing habi­tats for native ani­mals, bush­fire recov­ery work and reduc­ing the spread of inva­sive weeds are among the projects to ben­e­fit from $175,000 in fund­ing to sup­port envi­ron­men­tal volunteers.
