Nilpe­na is offi­cial­ly a new nation­al park

South Aus­tralia has a new nation­al park with Nilpe­na Edi­acara Nation­al Park offi­cial­ly pro­claimed – it will replace the exist­ing Edi­acara Con­ser­va­tion Park and add near­ly 60,000 hectares of extra pro­tect­ed land.

One of Adelaide’s last remain­ing coastal fresh­wa­ter and estu­ar­ine lagoon sys­tems is one step clos­er to becom­ing a pro­tect­ed area, fol­low­ing a trans­fer of land from SA Water to the Min­is­ter for Envi­ron­ment and Water.


Pre­scribed burn­ing wrap­ping up for a record break­ing year

Recent rains have sig­nalled the end of a record-break­ing year of pre­scribed burns for South Aus­tralia with The Nation­al Parks and Wildlife Ser­vice (NPWS) suc­cess­ful­ly com­plet­ing 49 pre­scribed burns this autumn, mak­ing it a record 96 for the year and a 53 per cent increase from the 201920 season.
