Nation­al park sites ben­e­fit from fed­er­al her­itage grants

Two South Aus­tralian nation­al parks will ben­e­fit from the lat­est round of the Aus­tralian Her­itage Grants Pro­gram, with Dal­housie Springs in Witji­ra Nation­al Park and Nara­coorte Caves Nation­al Park receiv­ing funds.

Pre­scribed burn­ing wrap­ping up for a record break­ing year

Recent rains have sig­nalled the end of a record-break­ing year of pre­scribed burns for South Aus­tralia with The Nation­al Parks and Wildlife Ser­vice (NPWS) suc­cess­ful­ly com­plet­ing 49 pre­scribed burns this autumn, mak­ing it a record 96 for the year and a 53 per cent increase from the 201920 season.


Turn­ing olive trees into McLaren Vale wine

An inno­v­a­tive new pilot project in Adelaide’s south­ern sub­urbs is remov­ing fer­al olive trees from nation­al parks and turn­ing them into a prod­uct which is help­ing grow grapes at McLaren Vale vineyards.

The Botan­ic Gar­dens and State Herbar­i­um today launched its new Hor­ti­cul­ture Ther­a­py Pro­gram that will sup­port vul­ner­a­ble mem­bers of the com­mu­ni­ty through hands-on gar­den­ing activities.
