Park of the Month is going with the flow this Octo­ber, show­cas­ing some of the state’s nation­al parks as part of South Australia’s Nature Festival.

A fur­ther 30 hectares will be added to three promi­nent South Aus­tralian parks to pro­vide more land for recre­ation, con­ser­va­tion and park infrastructure.

Envi­ron­men­tal vol­un­teers can share in up to $700,000 in fund­ing to sup­port vital con­ser­va­tion pro­grams in the state’s nation­al parks and reserves.

Two cit­i­zen sci­ence projects, one which focus­es on lit­tle pen­guins and the oth­er on mos­qui­to-borne ill­ness­es, have been announced as win­ners of the 2025 South Aus­tralian Cit­i­zen Sci­ence Awards. 

This August, Park of the Month is not so much about the parks but about the peo­ple who care for them. August will high­light oppor­tu­ni­ties for would-be vol­un­teers to roll up their sleeves and get a taste for volunteering.
