Real­is­ing Nilpena’s future is a col­lab­o­ra­tive effort between gov­ern­ment and the Adnya­math­anha peo­ple, landown­ers and com­mu­ni­ty, researchers, edu­ca­tors and tourism operators.

Pri­mar­i­ly, the cre­ation of Nilpe­na Edi­acara Nation­al Park, includ­ing devel­op­ment of the vis­i­tor precinct and estab­lish­ing ongo­ing man­age­ment, is being deliv­ered through South Aus­tralian Gov­ern­ment fund­ing and Com­mon­wealth Gov­ern­ment grants in part­ner­ship with the Flinders Ranges Edi­acara Foun­da­tion. The Flinders Ranges Edi­acara Foun­da­tion was estab­lished in 2018 with the sin­gle pur­pose to pro­tect the world’s great­est fos­sil record of first ani­mal life. The Foun­da­tion aims to sup­port research and edu­ca­tion, gen­er­ate eco­nom­ic out­comes through tourism and to make the fos­sils acces­si­ble for all.

Fur­ther val­ued part­ners include WYSS Foun­da­tion Cam­paign for Nature through the Nature Con­ser­van­cy, Foun­da­tion for Nation­al Parks and Wildlife, for­mer Nilpe­na sta­tion own­er Ross Fargher and Uni­ver­si­ty of Cal­i­for­nia, Riverside.

A Mem­o­ran­dum of Under­stand­ing has been signed between the Min­is­ter for Envi­ron­ment and Water and the Flinders Ranges Edi­acara Foun­da­tion to guide phil­an­thropic invest­ment at Nilpena.
