Bushfire recovery news

Fire brigade staff from Nation­al Parks and Wildlife Ser­vice CFS on the Lime­stone Coast were recent­ly recog­nised for their stel­lar efforts dur­ing the 2019 – 20 Aus­tralian Black Sum­mer bushfires.

Burnt down in the Kan­ga­roo Island bush­fires of 2019 – 20 two state her­itage list­ed cot­tages have arisen from the ash­es to become the newest and high­est stan­dard of accom­mo­da­tion offered by the Nation­al Parks and Wildlife Ser­vice (NPWS).

South Australia’s Nation­al Parks and Wildlife Ser­vice (NPWS) are call­ing for vol­un­teers to help iden­ti­fy endan­gered ani­mals cap­tured in images tak­en from recov­er­ing Cher­ry Gar­dens bush­land using motion sens­ing cameras. 

Recent rains have sig­nalled the end of a record-break­ing year of pre­scribed burns for South Aus­tralia with The Nation­al Parks and Wildlife Ser­vice (NPWS) suc­cess­ful­ly com­plet­ing 49 pre­scribed burns this autumn, mak­ing it a record 96 for the year and a 53 per cent increase from the ²⁰¹⁹⁄₂₀ season.

South Aus­tralia will be bet­ter pre­pared to sup­port the preser­va­tion and re-estab­lish­ment of the nat­ur­al envi­ron­ment dur­ing and fol­low­ing bush­fires with a new frame­work released by the Wildlife and Habi­tat Bush­fire Recov­ery Taskforce.
